A lot has happened in 2018 for Look After My Bills… we’ve seen incredible growth, secured investments from Y Combinator and Dragons’ Den, had one of our customers aired on ITV news and… most importantly… we’ve saved people a lot of money!
In January we had a team of just seven and zero customers. Now we’ve grown to a team of 20+ and have over 500,000 Look After My Bills members!
Y Combinator
In January 2018 we went to America and got investment from Y Combinator the world renowned startup accelerator in Silicon Valley.
They were the very first people to invest in amazing companies like Dropbox, Airbnb and Stripe! Thousands of companies from around the world apply to Y Combinator and we were part of just a handful of British companies who got in.
Dragons’ Den
In March we filmed Dragons’ Den and got the best deal in the history of the show! We talk about the whole experience in our blog Dragons’ Den – The Best Deal EVER.
We visited Tej Lalvani – Dragon extraordinaire! – at his awesome Vitabiotic office in north London in July to finalise the Dragons’ Den deal.
The show aired in August and our sign up numbers went absolutely bonkers!
In September we went back to Bristol, where Will and Henry first met at university.
We had a TV appearance on BBC South West to talk about achieving the best deal in the history of Dragons’ Den! It was quite a walk down memory lane! Though with less drinking and more working!
Jenny Campbell and Tej Lalvani visited our team in November, which was thoroughly exciting for everyone.
In December, Phil, one of our customers, was aired on ITV news talking about the loyalty tax. It isn’t talked about enough so we were thrilled that the issue gained more awareness.
Over the year there has been A LOT of articles talking about our service too. The BBC, Mirror, The Standard, The Express, The Times, The Telegraph, The Sun, The Daily Mail and so many more. It would be easier to list who hasn’t been talking about us!
Will even wrote a personal account of their Dragons’ Den experience for the i News.
So all in all it’s been a pretty busy year for us…
The things we’re really proud of are:
- We’re the largest energy switching company with almost 100,000 people signed up.
- The most we have saved someone is a whopping £2,023, but normally we save people on average £253.
- We have already saved the British public over £10 million on their energy bills and have moved over £50 million in energy custom.
- We got the best deal on Dragons’ Den, giving just 3% equity to the dragons for £120,000!
