Over £16 million of Tesco Clubcard vouchers expire at the end of November. But you can extend them with this trick.
Tesco sends out Clubcard vouchers every three months, which are usually valid for two years. These are issued in February, May, August and November.
More than £16 million of Tesco Clubcard vouchers are set to expire on 30 November, having been sent to customers in November 2021. But this one trick could extend their lifespan.

What are Tesco Clubcard vouchers for?
Tesco Clubcard savings can shave precious pounds off your shopping, especially at a time when cost of living is high and budgets are tight. Plus Tesco has one of the best supermarket loyalty schemes offering vouchers in return.
Tesco’s point system gives one point for every pound you spend. These points then translate to vouchers, which you can use as full or part payment in store or online. The minimum number of points you can exchange is 150, which gets you a £1.50 voucher.
Each point is worth 1p to spend at Tesco, but the best way to use them is to double their value with Reward Partners, such as:
- Numerous restaurants, including Pizza Express, Bella Italia, Prezzo, Café Rouge and Zizzi
- RAC Breakdown Cover
- Disney+ 3-month subscription
- National Express
But if you’ve accumulated vouchers, their end date may be close. You need to use vouchers issued in November 2021 by 11.59pm on Thursday 30 November.
But you may be able to extend the expiry date. Here’s how.
How to extend Tesco Clubcard vouchers
Clubcard vouchers usually expire after two years. Whether they’re online or a physical copy, there should be an expiry date displayed on them.
The simple solution is to spend the vouchers before 30 November, but there’s no joy in spending them for the sake of it.
If you’re not ready to spend your vouchers, here are the top tips to extend their lifespan.
- Go onto the Tesco Clubcard Rewards page and buy something small with your Clubcard voucher. It’s important not to confuse this for a purchase on the Tesco website or instore. This has to be on the rewards page.
- You’ll then be reissued new vouchers with a new expiry date, from the date of spend up to two years. For example, if you have a £10 Clubcard voucher and spend £1, your new vouchers will be worth £9.
The best thing here is to make that spend as small as you can.
On the Tesco Rewards page, it seems the minimum spend is 50p. So you could get away with just spending 50p for Prezzo vouchers, say, which gives you £1 in return to spend in the restaurant.
There are many other restaurants and retailers that have a minimum spend of 50p, so you have a good choice.
Before doing this, it’s worth checking what vouchers you have. If you have a chunk of big vouchers – for example £5, £10 or more – then it’s definitely worth it.
If you’ve accumulated a bunch of small vouchers worth a couple of pounds each, you may decide it’s too time-consuming and not worth the effort
How to access your Clubcard vouchers online
Sign into your account on the Tesco website with your email and password. You may be asked for numbers from your Clubcard number, so have it to hand. You can find the number on the back of your physical Clubcard.
In your account, there’s a Clubcard section that shows you the amount of points you have and vouchers available to spend. All your vouchers should have expiry dates.
Your vouchers are also available on the Tesco Grocery & Clubcard app (available on Apple Store and Google Play Store). Once downloaded, simply go to the vouchers section.
