Tesco shoppers will get double Clubcard points until 25 February as the popular deal returns for the first time in a decade. Here’s what you need to know and how to max it.
If you’re a regular Tesco shopper, there’s a good chance you use the Tesco Clubcard scheme to save money on your grocery shopping, and take advantage of rewards. If you do, the good news is that every time you spend using a Clubcard for the next seven weeks, you’ll get double the points.
From Monday 8 January to Sunday 25 February, over 20 million Tesco Clubcard members will be able to get double points by shopping in store, online, grabbing a bite from a Tesco café or filling up on fuel.
This is the first time the supermarket has held a double points promotion in over a decade, and it says it expects 10 billion extra points to be collected during the event. Here we look at how you can take advantage.

How do I earn Tesco Clubcard points?
Tesco Clubcard is a supermarket loyalty card which allows you to build up points when buying groceries and fuel. These points can be converted into discount vouchers and coupons, which can be redeemed in store or online, or with Tesco Reward partners.
When shopping in store or online, each pound spent usually earns you one point (although this excludes certain products, such as tobacco products and gift cards). Buying fuel at a Tesco petrol station usually earns you one point per two litres of fuel.
But for the next seven weeks, these purchases will earn two points instead.
If you shop at Tesco but don’t yet collect points, you can apply for a Clubcard here*.

Where can I redeem Tesco Clubcard points?
First of all, points need to be converted into Tesco Clubcard vouchers before they can be redeemed. This is done automatically every three months per 150 points earnt. You’ll receive Tesco Clubcard voucher statements in February, May, August and November.
Members will see the extra points earnt during this promotion on their February and May statements – depending on when you’ve earnt them.
Every point is worth a penny to spend in Tesco. So 500 points will earn you a £5 voucher to spend on shopping or fuel.
Alternatively, you can make your points go further by shopping with Tesco’s Clubcard Reward Partners. It’s usually possible to double the value of your points, which can be redeemed with over 100 Reward Partners, including:
- Subscription services such as Disney Plus
- Restaurants such as PizzaExpress, ASK, Prezzo and Bella Italia
- Days out and entertainment such as Cineworld, Alton Towers, Longleat and Blackpool Pleasure Beach
- Motoring partners such as RAC Breakdown Cover and IMO Car Wash
- Travel partners such as Hotels.com and various Railcards
You can check your balance either via the Tesco website or through its Grocery and Clubcard app.
These vouchers are usually valid for two years, although there is a trick to extend their life.
Are any purchases excluded?
Clubcard points will be doubled for purchases in store and online, as well as at Tesco cafés and petrol stations. However, you won’t get extra points with Tesco Bank, Tesco Mobile, Tesco Photo, or other partners such as Esso Fuel, Evri, Waves, Inkjet or Halfords Motoring Club.
There are also products which don’t qualify, such as:
- Tobacco or tobacco-related products
- Prescription medicines
- Infant formula milk
- Gift cards
- Saving stamps
- Some purchases of alcohol in Northern Ireland
