NOW TV homescreen

Sky TV has loads of fantastic shows, films and live sports. But it’s expensive and many people don’t want to be tied into a long contract. That’s where NOW comes in.

NOW is Sky’s streaming service. It was previously known as NOW TV, and it brings you Sky’s best entertainment, film, reality and sports offerings in monthly ‘memberships’ that you can dip in and out of.

That means you can cut back if your household budget needs tightening or you want to spend on other things.

NOW is more flexible than Sky. But if you take more than one membership, the costs soon add up. Thankfully, there are plenty of ways to save. NOW streaming service

NOW is Sky’s streaming service. It offers content available on Sky, including sports, movies, entertainment and more, but without a long contract. Instead, you pay monthly, so you can cancel with just a month’s notice and save yourself some money.

There are four ‘memberships’ to choose from: Entertainment, Cinema, Hayu and Sports. You can take one, two, three or all four of these during any given month.

Entertainment gives you award-winning drama and comedy, including HBO box sets and Sky original series. It costs £9.99 a month.

Cinema brings you the latest blockbusters plus classic films on-demand, as well as Sky original films. It too costs £9.99 a month.

Sports gives you all 11 Sky Sports channels, live. This is the only membership that has a day option, so you can just pay to watch a specific event on one day. It costs £11.98 a day, or £34.99 a month.

Hayu is all about reality TV. It includes over 9,000 episodes of the best US reality TV shows, including Real Housewives, Million Dollar Listing and Below Deck. It costs £4.99 a month.

However, there are some discounts to be had. And signing up for longer can save you a lot of money.

NOW Entertainment: sign up for six months, save 30%

A big part of NOW’s appeal is that it’s a rolling, month-by-month service that you can cancel at any time. But if you are willing to commit and sign up for longer, there are some big savings to be made.

NOW currently offers its Entertainment membership for £6.99 a month if you sign up for six months with its 6 Month Saver deal. That’s £3 cheaper than the usual monthly fee of £9.99, saving you £18 over six months, or 30 per cent on the cost of the membership.

The Entertainment membership brings you 17 live entertainment channels, including Sky Atlantic and Sky Max, as well as a host of box sets like Succession, Game of Thrones, The Last Of Us and House Of The Dragon.

As well as saving you almost a third on the price of the Entertainment membership, this deal comes with a free seven-day trial of NOW’s Cinema and Boost memberships (Boost gives you better picture and sound quality, cuts out the adverts and lets you stream on three devices at once instead of the usual one). Boost usually costs £6 a month.

NOW Cinema & Entertainment: sign up for 6 months, save 40%

If you want to add blockbuster films to your package, you can save big by signing up for six months. That does mean you’re locked in to the subscription, but the saving might be worth it.

The NOW Cinema & Entertainment 6 Month Saver deal costs £11.99 a month – that’s £7.99 a month cheaper than buying the two memberships at full price. Over the course of the six-month term, you’ll save 40% on the total cost.

This 6 Month Saver also comes with a free seven-day trial of the Boost add-on.

Seven-day free trial of Hayu

Hayu is the only membership to have a free seven-day trial. Once you sign up, you’ll have a week in which to binge as many episodes as you can. After the seven-day trial has ended, you’ll be automatically charged the £4.99-a-month membership fee unless you cancel. So if you don’t want to sign up, don’t forget to cancel your membership.

NOW Sports: save money with day memberships

The Sports membership is the most expensive that NOW offers, costing £34.99 a month. But if you just want to watch a specific match or two, you can save money by being strategic.

The day membership only costs £11.98. This gives you 24 hours’ access to Sky Sports, so you can tune in for the event or match of your choice without paying big.

Not only that, it also includes a 9 month Mobile Month Membership, which lets you watch five Sky Sports channels (Sky Sports Premier League, Action, Arena, Racing and News) on your phone.

Save on NOW Entertainment with TalkTalk Full Fibre
